Women’s Cycling

As a club we have grown our women’s membership nearly two fold in the past 18 months and we continue to promote women in the sport. We understand that it can be daunting coming into a male-dominated arena so we have created the position of and elected our first Women’s Secretary Jemma Taylor to be a point of contact and assist with any queries.

We run an open monthly women’s ride which caters for those new to the sport; all we ask is that you have a bike suitable for road riding and a reasonable degree of fitness to get you round 35-40 miles. The speed will be determined by the slowest rider and no one is left behind. There is a café stop towards the end of the ride.

The monthly women’s rides are open to both members and non-members! You are able to attend 3 rides before we ask that you join us for the bargain price of £25. Members get a swanky membership card, access to reduced priced club events, early access to our Tuesday Tens time trials and a 10% discount at Yardsale Pizza Leytonstone (other discounts are being sourced!)

If you would like to join us for a ride please book a free ticket through the relevant link – if no tickets are booked 24 hours before the ride we cannot guarantee that the ride leader will turn up to lead.

Sometimes we will replace the introductory women’s ride with one more suited to intermediate cyclists. This is kept to a minimum throughout the year and it will be clear in the description.

Our monthly women’s rides are as follows;

Saturday 27th July – Women’s ride < 40 miles (introductory)
Meet: Walthamstow Town Hall 9.00am or High Beech, Epping Forest at 9.30am

Notes: if you are new to city riding you can make your own way to RP on public transport and meet us at the roundabout where Broomfield Road meets Priory Lane at 10.30 – please note, as we will be coming from Walthamstow we might be delayed in traffic but we will be there. We will do laps around the Park and then head for lunch at Pen Ponds café. The intent would be to stay as a group for a few laps and then faster riders can go off until we meet again at the café for lunch.

Notes: With the announcement that London will be having a vehicle free day we are planning on heading into central and taking a tour of the bridges and beautiful buildings that we usually don’t get to see.
